Meredith Morrison is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice is process-based and experimental. Embedded within traditions of fiber, craft, and industrial production, she often calls upon intuition and meditative repetition to explore the sculptural building of cloth and concepts of time, memory, nostalgia, and dreams.
Morrison received her BA in Art + Design, concentrating in Fiber, and a BS in Textile Technology from North Carolina State University. After spending several years in home furnishings and textile product design, she completed her MFA in Fiber at Cranbrook Academy of Art, where she focused on beadwork and object building. She has been featured in numerous group shows throughout the US and has presented solo exhibitions with 934 Gallery, SHAG, and Playground Detroit. She has received prize and grant funding from VF Corporation, Cotton Incorporated, Cerf+, Playground Detroit, and the Miami Foundation, among others. Her work has been published in Fwd: Museums Journal and the Detroit Metro Times. Currently, she is a Material Designer at Nike and a Visiting Artist at the College of Creative Studies. She lives and works in Portland, Oregon, where she continues to mediate the intersections of art, design, and craft.
