Organized by Sung Eun Park, A Glow of Satisfaction explores the experience of an identity crisis by presenting works crafted through the negotiation of multiform cultural identities, corporeal self-expression and the interaction of varied media, colors and forms. The artists in this group exhibition aim to create a space for the viewer to acknowledge and communicate with their diverse experiences.
Artists:
Mady Maszk was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She received her BFA in Painting and Drawing with a minor in Philosophy from the University of Oregon in 2020. She currently lives and works in Eugene, OR with her partner, a fly fishing guide, and her lucky black cat.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, and raised in the United States, Hoffecker Mejía received his BFA from the University of Memphis and an MFA from Indiana University. His work has appeared in print and online magazines such as New American Paintings, and Create! Magazine. He has been an artist-in-residence at the Studios at MASS MoCA, Ox-Bow School of Art, the Vermont Studio Center, and others. He is currently Assistant Professor at Western Oregon University.
Hailing from Wilmington, North Carolina, Sarah Newsome is a cross-disciplinary artist living in Portland, Oregon. She received her MFA in Craft from Oregon College of Art & Craft in Portland, Oregon in 2019, and her BA from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2015. Newsome has exhibited work in Oregon, Washington, California, North Carolina, New Jersey, and Idaho.
Park was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the United States. She received her MFA at the Indiana University and her BFA from Maryland Institute, College of Art. Park has exhibited her works nationally in California, Maryland, New York, Indiana and Oregon and internationally in Italy, France, Hungary and South Korea. She has traveled abroad to pursue her creative research and projects as an artist. Park lives and works in Oregon.
