Have You Had A Burger?

Have You Had A Burger? showcases Korean artist, Hyun Jung Jung’s latest body of work, which consists of kinetic, interactive, and performance art. 

While creating pieces for this series, Hyun Jung reflected on the various mundane yet charged questions she has received throughout her years spent in the United States:

Have you had a burger?; Can you paint my nails?; Can you help me with my math homework?; Have you been to North Korea?; Do you have an English name?, etc. 

In Korea, it is said that when asked foolish questions, it is virtuous to respond with wisdom. Have You Had A Burger? is the artist’s response to questions that she was not able to answer in the past.

Hyun Jung Jung is a Korean artist and designer currently based in Portland, Oregon. She received her BFA in Textiles design from Rhode Island School of Design in 2017. She creates with the aspiration to capture the generation she lives in. With great interest in Pop culture, she continuously attempts to create works that people from different backgrounds and cultures can easily relate to and respond to.
